SAGE Environmental Inc. Wetland Restoration Project Summer 2010

SAGE Environmental, Inc. was contracted to provide wetland restoration services due to unauthorized filling into and within 50 feet (the Perimeter Wetland) of a pond in Cranston, Rhode Island.  Activities conducted from May through September 2010 included:

• Clearing and grubbing of the shoreline and the 50-foot wetland perimeter to remove heavily overgrown vegetation;
• Placement of 300 feet of staked hay bales at the shoreline;Installation of a 150-foot floating silt curtain offshore to eliminate discharge of sediment into the pond;
• Removal of solid waste material including tires, trees, and miscellaneous solid waste;
• Restoration of an approximately 10-foot by 120-foot area of Spectacle Pond by removing approximately 1,200 square feet of fill material from the shoreline and grading of the new embankment;
• Application of loam and clean fill to any disturbed areas equal to the amount of soil removed.

Wetland re-vegetation is planned for the spring of 2011.
